Disneyland Mermaids
During the summers of 1965 through 1967, Disneyland's Submarine Voyage lagoon housed real live mermaids. The ladies donned tails, frolicked, and sunbathed for about 4 hours each day. There is a video on youtube of them swimming and waving through the sub's portholes as you passed. I can only imagine just how excited the little kids were who witnessed this. This blog even has try-outs for the position in the mid 1960's.
