Funkity Funkalistic Funk

I'm in a funk.

So, while I complain, I'm going to share funky photos from
one of my favorite places to take pictures:

Third Monday Trade Days.

I'm sick of all my clothes.

I want new clothes.

Comfortable, black clothes.

I'm sick of my hair.

I'm ready to chop it.

It's way too long and crazy.

All I seem to do is work and sleep.

I need to take some time off this weekend (how far away is the weekend?)
to recharge doing creative things.

Like take photos.

and blog.

I'm grouchy.

How do you get out of your funk?

Please Excuse my Language

I love the unique items I find at Third Monday Trade Days each month.

I think all fiction writers need a "bullshit scraper."

This next photo reminds me of my Mermaid Ghost Dream.

This is where they send the bad birdies...

and, I just really want to plant a big fern in this sweet burro.

My weekend plans involve working...and going to Third Monday Trade Days.

What are your plans?

Animal of a Different Sort

Did you see my very strange and unusual post on Sunshine and Lemonade?

Did you leave a comment to win the giveaway on Life with My 3 Boybarians?

Did you see the controversial reasons why you shouldn't move to Austin, Texas?

On to today's post.

This weekend is Third Monday Trade Days in my neck of the woods.
And I love to go, take photos, browse and maybe buy a thing or two.

This is the coolest carved pelican I have ever seen.

It's carved from the root of a tree in Indonesia.
Possibly a bamboo tree?
Isn't that awesome?

Let's Trade

I've posted about our local Trade Days before.
The first time I went by myself and saw what all there was available.
The second time I took the boys, and we barely made it out without one of these.

Well, here are more photos from that second trip with the boys.
It was their first time to experience a Trade Days.
And they loved it.

This is Third Monday Trade Days.

I seriously contemplated buying one of these bird houses.

The one in the middle was my favorite.

Here's Remy showing me that if he were a bird and this was his house,
that's the room he'd want to be his.
Do you remember doing stuff like that when you were a child?
I do.

I was SO tempted to buy that bird house.

I was not tempted to buy these purses below...

But, I was tempted to buy these metal creatures...

and these too. They're so creative and hilarious!

I wasn't too tempted to buy these chickens though...although at some point I'd love to have some to produce fresh eggs for my family...

I was very tempted to buy these adorable little potbellies.
I've told you about my pet pig Kory, the potbelly I had in high school, right?

I swear, I didn't buy this, but somehow it ended up in my car

This is what he bought...a real stainless steel sword.

That he used to cut the tree, causing his mother to yell at him in horror!

and which he has now hidden from his dangerous little brother.

Speaking of the little brother, he was so inspired by Trade Days that he decided to create something of his own to try and sell, just like the people at the market...

It's probably best it only happens once a month, or I'd be tempted to go often!

Do you have a local trade market? Have you ever bought or sold something at one of these? Did anything in these pictures temp you?

Are you shopping today?

They're like Kryptonite.

Kryptonite was the only thing that could bring down Superman.
The Greek Hero Achilles was invincible, except for his heel.

Well, these little guys are just about everyone's Kryptonite.
Everyone's Achilles' Heel.

I dare you to see them, hold them and then walk away.
It's HARD.

We walked away...just barely.

What you didn't know you needed

I met these lovely ladies not too long ago.
Do you want to know where they were hanging out?

I found them at our county's Third Monday Trade Days.
Do you know what that is?
A giant flea market.

100 years ago, judges rode the circuit, visiting lots of little towns to preside over court proceedings once a month.
Residents would gather to participate in or observe court proceedings and saw it as an opportunity to swap goods with each other.
Thus began Trade Days.

I was bummed I couldn't bring Annie,

but I did bring my camera!

I was tempted to buy so many unique items,
but I purposefully didn't bring but a few dollars with me.

I think I'd put the mermaid in my bathroom. Near our big garden tub.

The men didn't mind me taking pictures of their popcorn.

But, I'm sure they thought I was weird.

sigh.

I get that a lot these days.

I could totally collect old keys. I could be easily obsessed with collecting them.

What do you like to collect?

I'm not sure what these are. Decoration? Hooks? I should have looked closer.

My favorite item of the day?

Purses made out of old cowboy boots.

I want one.

I may have to bring money next time.

Would you have bought any of those things?

Surely something tempted you...
