Renate Hiller's "On Handiwork"

I'm posting this as mostly a reminder to myself. When things get tough, and I wonder why do I want to make something when I can just buy it. I will force myself to re-watch this video. Plus she has such a wonderful calming quality about herself it just makes me feel better about life in general.

Aid for Spiders

With wistful thoughts of fall crossing my mind. I have no idea why it just is. I just had to share one of my favorite artists. Her name is Nina Katchadourian. She did a series of work a little while ago where she mended spider webs, and photographed the results. Ponder the effort and patience you have to have to tackle such and undertaking. I have also found a kit if you want to follow in her footsteps. BRILLIANT!

Embroider Loud Enough and World Will Hear

Nothing thrills me more than when an artist can take a traditionally folk or craft medium and elevate it to the highest level of artisan ship. Angelo Filomeno is one of those artists. Ascetically the images are amazing, very unique and evocative. Coupling that with the medium he is working in, the work just takes on a completely new meaing. Most of his work is embroidery on silk, and it’s absolutely lovely! Seeing it in person is breathtaking.
