Yume

This is probably my favorite plastic toy to come out in a while. Of course it is sold out, but still my loves for it goes on. Introducing Yume the little Geish Girl by Plastikmat. Toysrevil Blog has posted an amazing write up on her, where there is also a great interview with her creator. Here is her story via the Toysreavil blog post...

"Depicted as a little girl destined to become a geisha, a gloomy prospect in her mind, she often looks a little sad. But as any child, she keeps her share of innocence and dream. She imagines a world of her own, with friends making her able to evade her fears of the the real world competition and superficiality. Her main ally in this dream, the Dragon, characterizes her need for freedom."

BTW: Yume has her own blog

Black Eye Suzie Art Dolls

I just love Black Eye Suzie art dolls. They are so expressive and delicate. The one pictured has to be my favorite, with her little parasol and pensive look. She also has a great blog. Some very interesting posts on her actually constructing her dolls. Her doll construction fascinates me. There head, hands and feet are individually sculpted from paperclay (no molds). Some of her earlier bodies were made of fiberfill and cotton fabric over a wire armature. Lately they look like paper clay forms strung together with ball joints. Their faces are hand-painted with water colours, with handmade eyes. Such pretty little elegant creatures.

Miss Millificnet's Exquisite Art Dolls

Look how cute!!!! I just spotted these guys the other day, and I'm in love! The maker of these beautifully spooky art dolls is MissMillificent. I just love how she came up with the name for her line. Here is an excerpt from her bio which explains it... "Around 2000, I worked as a late-night hotel switchboard operator. We were given mounds of scrap paper for telephone numbers, room numbers, etc., but we all did a lot more doodling. One night I drew a little girl with frazzled hair, bulging eyes, and an over sized head. That night, Miss Millificent was born. All my creations come from her world... " I just love that out of such a boring job such creative ideas can flow.

ForeverFall's Dolls

One of my very favorite shops on Etsy has to be ForeverFall. Her dolls are so adorable I just want all of them. To quote her bio... "When I was a kid, I used to draw pictures of pumpkin towns where it was forever fall and the villagers celebrated this big on-going Halloween fest. I like to think that my works are items that could have been purchased at the markets in these make-believe towns." I just love that! The little quirky smiles they have on their faces, and their little attitudes just make me happy everytime I look at them. And the addition of the little ornaments in their hair is just so inventive. I'm smitten! The names of them are even more inventive. Do yourself a favor and take a look at her shop. You'll be glad you did.
