Another April Fool's Joke?

We awoke yesterday to a light skift of snow ... on  the lilacs
and on the Kousa dogwood ...
The flowering quince was frosted ...
l
But the snow disappeared with the morning sun, leaving no damage to any of the blossoms.

Apparently, Mother Nature was just fooling with us.

Sunshine Came Softly . . .

What a pleasure to see shadows again!
And to hear the sweet dripping of icicles!
And to read that the temperature could reach the forties this weekend!

Oh joy!

Lots o' Snow

Oh my, so much snow!  Our road was impassable to vehicles -- even with chains -- on Christmas and on Boxing Day.  Our friends from the other side of the county couldn't make it here for Christmas and we couldn't get out to the traditional Boxing Day party at other friends' house.

So far, so good. We have power, an embarrassing amount of food and sparkling wine, books and toys to play with . . . and more snow in the forecast. We aren't going anywhere.

The Waiting Game... with Snow

Out the back door, looking north. . .
From the dining room windows looking east . . .
And from the kitchen, looking east and south . . .
We woke Tuesday morning to a world of snow.

By mid afternoon, it was over...

And the clouds were moving away.

My agent is enthusiastic about my proposal and has sent it on to Herself ...
now for more waiting.

All Day Snow .. and the Winners!

It's been snowing all day long and I've been up in my workroom, watching the flakes swirling outside the windows and trying to organize a proposal for the next novel to send to my agent and thence, perhaps, to Herself.
It's not easy. But more of that later...
I am emerging just to say that I've drawn two winners for the fairy crosses -- Helen T in GA and Victoria in CA! If you all will email me your addresses, I'll put the goodies in the mail -- as soon as I can get out...

And Then There Was Snow . . .

Afer a night of heavy rain we awoke to snow yesterday. By afternoon the decks had seen heavy traffic from the birds.
And much of the light snow had melted. But to the east, the distant Blue Ridge was still frosted  and shone pink in the setting sun.
Our north-facing slopes get little sun at this time of year and they too still wore a drift of snow.

Spring Snow Day - Texas is confused

Yesterday was the first day of Spring.

Bradford Pear trees were blooming, birds chirping, the sun shining bright...

and then we woke up to this!!

SNOW!!

Our sweet mild-mannered Annie goes WILD in the snow.

Our weather is bi-polar, but it sure is fun!!!

The Footfall of the Lion

Tuesday morning: the March lion roared . . .
The crab apple bloomed with purple finches . . .

The bell was mute... too cold to speak . . .
A lone chickadee waited his turn for seed . . .
Memories and dreams of summer meals al fresco were buried in the snow . . .
And the faithful tractor stood ready to dig us out.

Oops! It Did It Again!

Snow on the porch . . .
Snow on the trees . . .
Turkeys in the snow . . .

Up to their turkey knees.
